A Resource for Lent

For those seeking models or support to practice the Message, we offer a Lenten resource for daily prayer called,

The “Take-Home” Prayer

Dear God, I praise You and thank You for the gift of Jesus who shows us the way to speak the truth of our experiences of separation and the ways we have hurt ourselves and others.  Thank you that Jesus reveals the overflowing love and forgiveness that You intend for us – that You do not reject us, but call us back to You.  Please help me to see and know these ways I live in spearation (sin).  I take some time now to engage the practice of naming and receving forgiveness...

Move through the 4 R’s in prayer:

Rebuke - name the issue (like speaking/receiving words and life apart from God), the problem, the falling short and name that you do not want to live in that.

Repent - turn around to God, inviting God into the issues, problems, the chaos, and messiness of life, telling God we are sorry for trying to go it alone.

Receive - to hold on to God, open to messages, power, love or whatever God has for you (Leave time for silence, to just be in God’s presence and also to listen - 15 minutes or so).

Rejoice - to give thanks to God for what God is doing.  To praise God for who God is. To live and act and move in God.

Thank you for your love.  Help me to stay in the place of receiving rejoicing throughout this day, but as I fall short (miss the mark) help me to hear your loving invitation to rebuke and repent in order to receive and rejoice again.  I love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
